Lunch Tickets
Tickets may be purchased in the office.  Student lunches are $2.55.  Adult lunches are $3.55.  The school will contact you when your family’s account gets low.

Physical Education
Our class will have Physical Education on Monday and Friday.  Athletic shoes are important for your child on those days.  Children cannot do their best or have as much fun if they are wearing sandals or fashion shoes with high platforms or slippery soles. Girls usually prefer to wear shorts or slacks on those days.

 2nd Grade
Your child will be in my classroom for math and language arts.  The students will have most of their specials in the afternoon and will be in Mr. Clouse's room for Social Studies and Science.
Open House will be on August 24 from 7:00-8:00

Let’s communicate
Letters and notes will be sent home or e-mailed as needed to inform you of activities and special occasions here at school.  Although formal parent-teacher conferences are scheduled in the fall and the spring, I welcome a Dojo message, e-mail, call, or visit from you anytime you have information to share or questions to ask.  At school I can be reached by e-mail shanson@harris-lp.k12.ia.us or phone 832-3437 (ext.213) and at home my number is 336-2732.

Please e-mail me and Karen Bosma (the school secretary) if your child will be absent due to illness or family travel.   Our school policy is that if a child is well enough to come to school they are well enough to participate in recess.  Please send a written request from your family physician if you feel your child should be excused from outside activity.

I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with both you and your second grader.

Mrs. Sandy Hanson
